We will cross the City of San Felipe de Puerto Plata; our trip will begin in the Isabel de Torres Hill where we will go through a cable car named “the Teleférico of Puerto Plata” which is a very interesting place where it is possible to experience an exciting adventure. The cabins take us to the top of the Isabel de Torres Hill. Once we arrive to the top of the Isabel de Torres Hill we can observe a unique and precious garden, with plantations of exotic flowers, which adorn the green mountain with its natural beauty and his delightful perfume. Travelling in the cable car at approximately one thousand meters height, it is possible to observe exuberant vegetation while enjoying an unforgettable moment looking at the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Another spectacular sight that has the trip in the teleférico is the beautiful sight of the City of Puerto Plata.
Puerto Plata is the capital of the north coast of the island and was founded by Columbus on his second voyage. It is worth a visit to see the many historical landmarks such as Chocolate factory and panoramic view of old fort; built to resist attacks from English and Dutch pirates and it is one of the first ones in America. You will see precious old amber with tiny insects caught inside the stone at the Amber factory. A walk through the old historical center showcases many houses built in the Victorian and Colonial style and also the main Cathedral and the city square with a typical Victorian gazebo.
This lively city captures the spirit of the Caribbean and its impressions will stay with you forever!
